Course Offerings in Science
To become intellectually responsible, scientific thinkers and problem solvers requires both an active curiosity and strong analytical thinking skills. Science at Regina Dominican is therefore taught as an inquiry-based process and includes developing a body of knowledge about both the physical and living world. It is desirable that students be well grounded in all the sciences as current scientific research continues to be not only technology based but also increasingly more interdisciplinary in its scope.
Three years of Science are required. It is the philosophy of the Science Department that the students should be exposed to each of the three sciences, biology, chemistry and physics, in preparation for college.
The Science Department at Regina Dominican uses a laboratory approach to science education that involves each student in the process of discovery. This approach enables students to engage in analytical problem solving.
